Which Food Hygiene Certificate should I choose?
As you will already know, if you work with food, or in the food industry, you will need to obtain a Food Hygiene Certificate. What you may not be aware of is that there are 2 levels of Food Hygiene Training that are available and it is very important that you choose the correct level of training to satisfy this legal obligation.
Level 1 Award in Food Safety Awareness
The Level 1 Award in Food Safety is specifically written for individuals that do not handle high risk food, or who work in the food industry and do not handle food. Examples include:
- Packing frozen foods
- Handling canned and/or packaged goods
- Cleaners in a kitchen/food establishment
- Waiters, Waitresses and Bar Staff
Level 2 Award in Food Safety
The Level 2 Award in Food Safety is for individuals that do handle high risk foods and ready to eat foods. Examples include:
- Chefs in restaurants
- Working in a Deli or Sandwich Shop
- Cooks in a cafe
