Level 1 Awareness Food Hygiene Certificate for Manufacturing,
Catering or Retail

In January 2006, EU HACCP legislation became law in the United Kingdom. What was then the compliance course, the Basic Food Hygiene, was re-written to include HACCP information relevant to the different levels of courses. The new sylabus courses were re-named FOOD SAFETY and then split into the occupational segments; MANUFACTURING, CATERING and RETAIL.

Level 1 Food Safety Training should be undertaken by those who work with low risk food and those who work around food but do not handle the food. For example front of house staff, waiting staff and cleaners.

Who should complete a Level 1 Food Hygiene and Safety Course?

  • Those who handle low risk foods i.e. raw meat, packaged foods or those working in food areas for other purposes e.g. Cleaners.
  • Induction training for new members of staff. However, those that handle high risk foods must acquire a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate within 3 months.
  • Front of house and waiting staff.

The Level 1 Food Safety Courses are made up of 11 modules of learning, and takes around 1 and a half hours to complete. All of our Level 1 Food Hygiene and Safety Courses are accredited by CPD, Continuing Professional Development, a recognised UK Cetification Service.

Certification

All of our Food Hygiene and Safety Courses have being accredited by the CPD Certification Service, (Continuing Professional Development). In addition to this the courses follow the syllabus used by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).

Upon Completing the Course

Upon completion of the learning, there is an end test of 20 questions, of which 13 (66%) must be answered correctly to allow the user to print their CPD Certificate directly from their PC. No need to wait for the certificate to be posted out to you.
