Food Safety Training & Certification

In 2006 when the Food Hygiene Regulations were introduced, the then standard "Basic Food Hygiene" course had to be written to accommodate the new legislation. The new standards were also re-named Food Safety. This was to reflect the wider content containing HACCP and instead of the one size fits all general approach the courses were divided into three occupational areas

Also, following the legislation recommendation that training must be "appropriate" for the work done the standards further divided the 3 categories of manufacture, catering and retail into level 1 and level 2 food safety courses.

Food Safety Certification

These are full food safety awards and are the only e-learning food safety courses to be listed on the Learning and Skills Council Learning Aims Database. This means that they are approved and listed, and could be used as part of a larger course e.g. a GCSE/NVQ.
These courses fully incorporate HACCP and are the only ones in the UK to be awarded directly, instantly on line by international awarding body EDI (Education Development International) who have recently acquired UK awarding body, ASET. The certification comes from EDI directly, where the candidates details are recorded and are then fully auditable, and traceable.

The course learning content is followed by the live on line test, and is electronically marked. Successful candidates can print out their food safety certificate instantly.
