Level 1 Award in Food Safety Awareness in Catering

For candidates who work in catering, this awareness food safety course is intended for those who:
- Serve wrapped, bottled or canned food.
- Wait or serve food without being involved in preparation.
- Handle low risk food.
- Enter food areas for other purposes eg maintenance.
Food Safety Course Content
The course consists of 11 sections of learning each with interactive content to assist the learning process.
The sections include:
- The importance and use of the right protective clothing.
- The importance of correct hand washing.
- The importance of reporting an illness.
- The importance of wound dressings.
- Your personal behaviour and your responsibilities.
- Keeping your work area and equipment clean and tidy.
- Waste disposal.
- Food safety hazards that could cause harm in your work place.
- Contamination and cross-contamination.
- You must follow these correct procedures for working with food and
storing food.
- The hazards caused by pests that you should be aware of.
Food Safety Certificate
Once the candidate is satisfied that they have completed and understood the learning they transfer to the awarding body site (EDI) where there is a live, multi-choice test consisting of 20 questions. The candidate must achieve 20 correct answers to obtain a certificate which is printable form their pc.
The certificate is fully auditable and recognised by all relevant government departments.
