Level 1 Award in Food Safety Awareness for Retail

This course is validated on the LSC Learning Aims Database number 00285728.

The course is for anyone working in a retail environment, foe example:

• On market stalls.
• From kiosks.
• In shops.
• In supermarkets.
• In petrol stations

Combining food safety and HACCP these level 1 awards are especially for those who retail foods that are low risk, for example:

• Wrapped or canned goods
• Food in bottles or jars

Food Safety Course Content

The sections include:

• The importance and use of the right protective clothing.
• The importance of correct hand washing.
• The importance of reporting an illness.
• The importance of wound dressings.
• Your personal behaviour and your responsibilities.
• Keeping your work area and equipment clean and tidy.
• Waste disposal.
• Food safety hazards that could cause harm in your work place.
• Contamination and cross-contamination.
• You must follow these correct procedures for working with food and storing food.
• The hazards caused by pests that you should be aware of.

When the candidate is ready to take the test they electronically transfer to the awarding body site (EDI) where the live link is fully auditable and traceable.
The candidate answers 20 multi-choice questions and the course is then marked electronically. The candidate must achieve 15 correct answers to pass and will then be able to print off their certificate instantly from their pc.
